For this project, I was contacted by one of the architects I have a working relationship with (Thomas Manion). I had been asked by Tom if I was interested in doing this project in Leesburg VA. I met my client Parker, who owns a construction company called Teel construction, which does commercial work. He wanted someone very knowledgeable to build his custom deck/screened-in porch. and he hired me to build his project. The combinations of materials used, Ipa decking with mahogany post and rails, cedar ceiling with stone pillars – stone fireplace all work beautifully together. The project took three months to complete. It was very enjoyable working on this project with the Potomac river in sight.
Review from Dickson Carroll- Architect
My clients Mark Patterson and Jennifer Leete purchased this home two years ago in Chevy Chase DC and wanted to alter their space to fit there family’s needs.
Loccoco architects was hired to do the design and I was chosen as the GC to execute the project. I was chosen for my skills, great working relations with clients and excellent references.
The project consisted of updated master bath and redoing most of the first floor with a new kitchen, addition, a large wrap around deck, new boiler and hot water heater and splitting up third floor A/C to two zones to accommodate second and third floors .
The project started in early May of 2017 and as promised substantially completed by October 31, 2017 with only a punch list to complete.
My clients had moved out to have a better living arrangement since most of the first floor and part of the basement, second and third floors where being worked on.
MY clients, Mark and Jennifer were very pleased with the end result and would highly recommend my company.
Kostaris construction was hired to enlarge a very small bathroom, closet and add a laundry room by building this L shape addition on left corner of house, which came to a point. The property backs up to a stream in Glen Echo with a beautiful wooded lot. The clients were delightful to work with on their project. I kept everything in-house except the foundation work. The plumbing, all carpentry and tile work was personally done by myself. It was such a pleasure to work with these folks !
Cullen / Brown Project
This particular project was extra special to me because the surroundings are very similar to those where I live. This property is up against a large wooded area with a beautiful view and my clients wanted to build a dining room addition with lots of windows to bring the outdoors in. We built decorative wood ceilings made of fir in the dining area and the outside overhangs of the dining room addition. We also installed an outside shade (provided by Cliff Sosin of QWD) the width of the addition and from floor to ceiling to prevent too much sun from coming in. The clients also had us close off an outside space under an existing addition to create an exercise room with lots of windows. Also as part of the project, the owners had me redo their kitchen, and I recommended kitchen designer Jerry Weed of Kitchen Bath Studios to design and provide the kitchen cabinets. Finally, we constructed a small turret with two sets of stairs leading to it from the living room and family room. We constructed by hand, a set of stairs with wrought iron and 2 inch thick Mahogany treads and 1 inch thick risers from the turret down to the outside patio. The project was well thought out by Dickson Carroll, the Architect. The Owners where very pleased with the end result.
Quote from Client;
“Angelo and his team worked from beginning to end to realize our architect’s vision for our home addition. He was extremely responsive to our input and requests, and repeatedly stated that he wanted the final product to be what we wanted. It is.”
Downtown Bethesda, Laplaca project
Kostaris Construction was hired to remodel the existing house and add a three story addition with Garage for the Laplaca family.
My crew and I removed the side of the existing house, installed a very large steel beam at ceiling level of the first floor to support the upper part of the existing house and incorporated a three story addition, which enlarged the existing first and second floors of the house.
Kostaris Home Project
Between Client projects, Angelo Kostaris & his crew work on the Kostaris home on an ongoing basis.
This project has been on going for the past 29 years. When My crew and I have a brake between projects, I design an add-on, to my home and I execute it. I have designed and built most of my home, landscaping out doors, and the pool area. I very much enjoy working with all materials and plants with my hands ! I hope the photos will provide you with some design ideas for your future project.
Angelo Kostaris March 2017
Angelo Kostaris has breaks between projects, and when he does, there’s always an area in his home and garden that can be improved! Angelo has added 2500 sq. ft. to his home and has landscaped over two acres around the homes perimeter. Angelo looks for an area that he would like to improve & starts designing that space whether its the inside or outside of the house or the garden area. Once a design is chosen, Angelo waits for the time to bring his design to life, when he and his crew have a break, in-between client project.
Angelo has been working on his home for 29 years now and the photos below are his accomplishments.
Kostaris Construction built upper and lower decks, an expertly-crafted gazebo outside the breakfast room and then improved the breakfast room with more windows & doors to bring the outdoors in, with new floors, wood ceilings and new trim work. We also created a new space below the breakfast room, enhanced landscaping around the home with lighting and paths with stone curbs, and replaced existing driveway with the vintage look of cobblestone & pavers with a stone retaining wall.
Kostaris Construction upgraded and enlarged the clients’ kitchen and expanded the living room and a bedroom, all facing the side of the house. We also created a balcony with French doors off the living room that has a view of the garden with its beautiful crepe myrtle and dogwoods.
I am currently back at the Cohan’s (November 2014) remodeling there basement, creating a kitchen and a bathroom – handicap accessible. I do like repeat business !
